The mission of the UCC Universal Health Care Ministry Team is to fulfill the goal set forth in the Resolution “Universal Health Care/Universal Health Care coverage in CT” adopted October 20, 2007 at the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ Fall Annual Meeting: “to ensure that quality, effective and affordable health care is available to all the residents of Connecticut.”
The tasks of the UCC Universal Health Care Ministry Team are:
In partnership with the Christian Activities Council, the Universal Health Care Ministry Team collaborates with the Interfaith Fellowship for Universal Health Care to carry out this mission.
HARTFORD -- More than 100 residents from across Connecticut turned out in force today in Hartford to shine a spotlight on the unfinished business of health reform and to urge their elected leaders to take bold action this year on key health care policies. "My faith is calling me to do this," said Michele Mudrick, a congregational organizer at the UCC-related Christian Activities Council, based in Hartford. NEW YORK CITY, NY -- Kenneth Esposito, universal health care advocate and organizer for the Christian Activities Council and member of the Connecticut Conference Universal Health Care Ministry Team, died in his New York apartment after a year-long struggle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, September 30. HARTFORD -- The Connecticut State Senate passed the SustiNet implementation legislation -- HB 6308 -- 22-14 on Monday night, June 6, after four hours of debate. The bill now goes to Governor Dannel P. Malloy for his signature. 06/08/2011
HARTFORD -- Hundreds of faith leaders, medical professionals, community advocates, union members, people without health insurance, and citizens from all walks of life braved a light drizzle to circle the state Capitol building in Hartford yesterday, calling upon legislators and Governor Dannel P. Malloy to bring universal health care coverage to Connecticut. Marching up the hill from the rally's start point at Union Station through Bushnell Park, participants blew "train whistles" and chanted, "Are you on board with SustiNet?" 04/28/2011
